The Jomon and Genetic Connections to Ancient East and Southeast Asians

Maddie Olvey

My project explores genetic connections between the ancient Jomon people of Japan and other populations. The Jomon represent a deeply diverged East Asian lineage, and there's interest in knowing more about their relationship with other ancient East and Southeast Asians. As part of my research project, I learned how to use Python to conduct f3/f4 statistical tests and format the results to look for patterns. During my presentation, I plan to explain this process by presenting several key figures I generated (also using Python) and explaining how ancestry can be inferred from the numerical results.
